Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I update my service on the directory?

There are literally thousands of services that work locally and nationally with children, young people, parents and carers. The aim of the service directory is to provide a comprehensive and up to date source of services and activities in York. It is really important that the information we have for you is correct so that families and other practitioners know about your service and how to access it. Even if all of your details are correct please let us know this so we know what we hold is still accurate.

Young people in the city identified the lack of a central and easy place for them to find information about services and activities as a problem- we know there are a wide range of opportunities for young people, we want them to be able to find out about them easily- and having the information in one central place should support this.

An up to date directory of local services is vitally important for many reasons.

  • It will lead to more knowledgeable children, young people, parents and carers accessing the right services at the right time for them.
  • Better mapping of what services are available that support better partnership working and help identify gaps in provision.
  • Reduce the number of printed directories that are used for years even though the information in them went out of date a long time ago.
