Schools

Introduction

The Education Act (2011) has brought about changes to school improvement across the country. It has encouraged the development of local models for school improvement and the development of new approaches for the delivery of school improvement services.

In the City of York we are building on the strength of the partnership which has long existed between schools and the Local Authority. As a result the York Education Partnership has been formed.

A key focus for the York Education Partnership is a new approach to the commissioning and delivery of school improvement services.

Both the Primary and Secondary professional development prospectus provides details about individual courses and a range of cost effective packages provided by the School Improvement Team.

The CPD programme is designed to support schools to address local and national improvement priorities including:

  • Improving the quality of teaching so that it is consistently good or better
  • Improving leadership
  • Narrowing the gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers

There is also information about CPD opportunities being offered by other partners in the City of York.
